New Features for Users with ACT! 6.0 and ACT! for Palm 1.0

ACT! 2006 delivers a host of new features and functionality. We have updated ACT! for Palm OS® 2006 to support several new features in ACT! 2006, as well as added a few new features specific to the handheld device. ACT! for Palm OS delivers all the great features of your existing Palm product, as well as the following:

  • Color support so you can view items by priority
  • A custom field view for quick access to critical information
  • The ability to view, edit and add opportunities from the device
  • Opportunity List View for viewing your opportunities in a consolidated list
  • The ability to add multiple products to an opportunity
  • Group and Company membership viewable on the device for each contact
  • Custom Activity Types for better tracking of time spent
  • Multi-contact notes and history to save you time when entering data
  • The ability to manage secondary contacts from the device

Please note: Due to the many device options available, ACT! for Palm OS 2006 will no longer re-map the Palm hardware buttons with ACT! functions as was done in prior versions. ACT! for Palm OS and ACT! Link for Palm OS cannot be used simultaneously on the same machine. ACT! for Palm OS does not enforce certain preferences and permissions defined in ACT!, including the “Allow history editing” preference, the “Allow notes editing“ preference, the “Delete Records” user permission, and the “Allow editing” field definition. As a result, ACT! for Palm OS users may edit contact history, edit contact notes, delete records, and edit read-only fields and these changes will be reflected in ACT! after the next two-way synchronization. Fields defined as read-only in ACT! may be edited using ACT! Link for Palm OS or ACT! Link for Pocket PC. If a two-way sync is performed after a read-only field is edited on the Palm OS or Pocket PC device, the corresponding read-only field will be modified in ACT!.
  1. Certain field data types may not map to ACT! for Palm OS including memo and picture fields. All fields in the custom field view are read only.
  2. Products may not be added, updated or deleted on the device. New products must be added in the Windows product.
  3. Companies and Groups may not be added, updated or deleted on the device. Group or Company membership may be updated on the device. A Group or Company membership will not display if one or more of the fields used in the Group or Company dynamic membership rules is not included in the user’s sync set.
  4. ACT! for Palm OS users may not add, update or delete custom activity types from the device. Custom activity types must be added in the Windows product.
